The Verdict Is In: These Are The Most Rave-Worthy Looks From The 2025 AMVCA

The 11th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) lit up Lagos with a night of cinematic celebration, cultural pride, and—naturally—stunning fashion statements. Often hailed as Nigeria’s own Met Gala, the AMVCA Awards once again lived up to its reputation. With celebrities pulling out all the stops, the AMVCA 2025 looks were nothing short of iconic. From traditional elegance to avant-garde silhouettes, this year’s red carpet became a dazzling showcase of African creativity and glamour, proving once again that Nigerian stars know how to make a statement.

For the first time ever, Amstel Malta introduced a public vote for the best-dressed male and female stars via Instagram Stories, adding an exciting new layer to the AMVCA 2025 buzz. The people spoke, and reality TV star and dancer Liquorose, along with men’s fashion influencer Akin Faminu, were crowned the style queen and king of the evening. Their looks were not only fashion-forward but also showcased impeccable detail, craftsmanship, and undeniable flair.

Liquorose stole the spotlight in a silver masterpiece by Prudential Atelier, adorned with floral embellishments and scale-like detailing that shimmered like moonlight. Topping off the look was a snake-inspired neckline that seamlessly extended into a sculptural hair covering—pure fashion poetry. Silver nails, diamond jewelry, and a radiant glow elevated the ensemble, making her presence on the carpet truly unforgettable.

On the men’s side, Akin Faminu wowed in a bespoke creation by Deji and Kola. The highlight? A delicately embroidered floral sleeve paired with a silk scarf in place of the conventional tie, striking the perfect balance between tradition and innovation. Completing the look with a sharp fedora, he exuded effortless cool, cementing his status as a style icon of the night.

Bold, Bizarre, and Beautiful: Unforgettable AMVCA 2025 Fashion Moments

Some celebrities took the theme of the night—”Garden of Time”—and turned it into wearable art.

BBNaija alumna Doyin David was a walking ode to Mother Nature, captivating the crowd in an ensemble crafted from leaves, twigs, and natural elements. Her look gave a literal, high-fashion interpretation of the theme, earning comparisons to a Vogue editorial. Naturally, it became one of the most talked-about outfits on social media—and rightly so.

Meanwhile, Ghanaian fashion daredevil Nana Akua Addo turned heads in a futuristic silver outfit that resembled haute couture armor. Sculpted and sharp, her AMVCA look walked the fine line between genius and madness—some loved it, while others didn’t quite get it—but no one could ignore it.

Veteran Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe reached for the stars—literally—with a celestial-themed gown adorned with planets, galaxies, and a sweeping train. Though undeniably eye-catching, the ambitious concept felt a bit too busy for some.

Osas Ighodaro, however, took avant-garde to a new level by wearing an actual tree on her back—branches and all. The look was heavily artistic, sparking both admiration and confusion. Yet, despite its unconventional nature, her poised silhouette made it work, proving once again that fashion is all about daring to be different.

AMVCA 2025 Awards Recap: A Night to Remember

The AMVCA Awards didn’t just bring style—it brought substance. Hosted by the ever-charismatic IK Osakioduwa, the evening celebrated excellence across 28 categories in film and television. Among the big winners was Lisabi: The Uprising, produced by Lateef Adedimeji, which took home three awards, including Best Art Direction and Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa).

The coveted Best Movie award went to Freedom Way, directed by Afolabi Olalekan, a gripping thriller that fearlessly tackled themes of corruption and youth resistance. Meanwhile, Seven Doors, a supernatural Netflix series by Femi Adebayo, earned major wins in both acting and music, proving the power of storytelling on the African stage.

Honoring icons and trailblazers alike, the night also saw veterans like Nkem Owoh and Sani Mu’azu receive Lifetime Achievement Awards, while Kayode Kasum was recognized with the Trailblazer Award, reinforcing the AMVCA’s commitment to celebrating both legendary and emerging talent.

But the AMVCA 2025 wasn’t just about who took home trophies—it was about who owned the night. When it comes to AMVCA 2025 looks, the stars pulled out all the stops, reminding the world why African fashion deserves a place at the top of the global stage. Whether you’re here for the glitz or the gold, the AMVCA Awards remain the ultimate celebration of talent, culture, and timeless style. If this year’s looks are any indication, the future of African fashion is bold, brave, and brilliantly beautiful.
