Before there were medical dramas like Grey’s Anatomy and The Pitt to keep you on the edge of your seat, there was ER. The George Clooney and Noah Wyle-led series took the world by storm, winning a total of 23 Primetime Emmy awards.
Set in Chicago at the County General Hospital, ER follows the professional and personal lives of the best doctors as they work under intense pressure. The show began airing in 1994 and ran until 2009, significantly boosting the fame of Clooney and Wyle.

Before he was the star of The Pitt he was the ER star, who portrayed Dr. John Carter. Noah Wyle was previously married to Tracy Warbin. The former couple met while on the set of the 1997 movie The Myth of Fingerprints, which starred Wyle with Warbin serving as makeup artist.
The couple began dating and tied the knot in 2000. During their marriage, Wyle and Warbin welcomed two children together: son Owen in 2002 and daughter Auden in 2005. In 2010, they decided to end their marriage and filed for divorce.

Wyle’s married life didn’t end after his union with Warbin — he later wed actress Sara Wells in 2014. The pair first met in 2011 after meeting during a production at The Blank Theatre Company. They later walked down the aisle in June 2014.
Almost exactly a year later, Wyle and Wells welcomed their first child together — and the third for Wyle — daughter Frances on June 22, 2015.
George Clooney and Talia Balsam
George Clooney, who you know best as Dr. Doug Ross, was once married to actress Talia Balsam. The former couple first met in 1984 while co-starring in a local play. They dated for a while, breaking up once, but soon they were back together, and Clooney proposed.
In 1989, Clooney and Balsam decided to tie the knot in a Las Vegas wedding. But in 1992, he filed for divorce, later taking responsibility for what happened
“I probably — definitely — wasn’t someone who should have been married at that point,” Clooney explained. “I just don’t feel like I gave Talia a fair shot. I was responsible for the failure of that marriage.”

Today, they’re Hollywood’s It-Couple, but before they were just two people in love. Clooney met Amal back in 2013 while at his Lake Como home. They met through a mutual friend who was visiting.
The couple began dating not long after their first meeting and by April 2014, they were engaged. A few months later, George and Amal became the Clooneys on September 27, 2014, in a small Italian wedding.
On June 6, 2017, the couple became parents to twins, son Alexander and daughter Ella. Despite their 17-year age gap, the duo is making the most of their life together.
“There’s a thing about finding the person that you needed to find, particularly at a certain age, and everything from then on is easy,” Clooney shared.

She portrayed Kerry Weaver on ER, but in real life, Laura Innes is married to actor David Brisbin. Innes and Brisbin walked down the aisle in 1988. Since then, the couple has welcomed two children together: son Cal in 1990 and daughter Mia, whom they adopted in 2002.
Anthony Edwards and Jeanine Lobell

Anthony Edwards, who portrayed Mark Greene, was previously married to Jeanine Lobell. The couple met while working on the 1992 film Pet Sematary II — Lobell was a makeup artist for the movie. In 1994, the couple exchanged vows.
During their marriage, Edwards and Lobell welcomed four children: son Bailey and daughters Esme, Poppy and Wallis. In 2015, the couple decided to end their relationship and filed for divorce.
Anthony Edwards and Mare Winningham

This match was made years before their romance was official. Anthony Edwards and now-wife Mare Winningham first met while co-starring in the movie Miracle Mile in 1988. Later, they were cast in ER, where Winningham played Dr. Amanda Lee, a woman obsessed with Edwards’ character.
Their romance didn’t begin until years later during the COVID-19 pandemic, when they would take walks together in NYC. By 2021, the pair decided to elope, with just an officiant present.
Julianna Margulies and Keith Lieberthal

Julianna Margulies, who starred on ER as Carol Hathaway, has been married to lawyer Keith Lieberthal for almost two decades. The couple first met in 2006 through a mutual acquaintance at a dinner she almost skipped.
About a year later, Marguiles and Lieberthal decided to marry on November 10, 2007. She was seven months pregnant with their child at the time and they welcomed son Kieran on January 17, 2008.

Sherry Stringfield, who played Susan Lewis, was previously married to journalist Larry Joseph. The couple tied the knot in 1998.
