Toni Braxton is stepping into a new spotlight as both star and producer in He Wasn’t Man Enough, the first movie in her multi-picture deal with Lifetime. Inspired by her 2000 chart-topping single of the same name, the movie will premiere on November 22 at 8/7c as part of the network’s Love of a Lifetime programming slate. In the film, Braxton plays Mel Montgomery, a successful author whose world is turned upside down after a breakup with her boyfriend Richard (played by Thomas Cadrot), only to discover he’s engaged to her old college friend Monica, portrayed by Essence Atkins. Yvette Nicole Brown also joins the cast in this emotional drama, which marks the beginning of Braxton’s ambitious venture to bring her musical legacy to life through film.
The second film in the series, Breathe Again, draws from Braxton’s early hit that earned her a Grammy in 1995. The story follows three former reality dating show contestants, played by Atkins, Cree Summer, and others, who form an unlikely sisterhood as they leave Los Angeles behind for a fresh start in Seattle. Both films are produced by Braxton in collaboration with Tanya Lopez and Kenneth Crear for Lifetime, with Stan Brooks directing and executive producing. With this creative partnership, Braxton is reimagining the stories behind her most iconic songs, blending music, drama, and nostalgia into a compelling new chapter of her career.

At least 4 people were injured in a knife attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation synagogue in Manchester. According to the BBC, the attacker first drove a car into a crowd, then stabbed worshippers before being shot dead by police. Three people are dead, including the attacker, after a man drove into pedestrians and launched a knife attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Manchester during Yom Kippur observances. The attack, which police have declared a terrorist incident, occurred on Thursday in the Crumpsall district and left three others seriously injured. Greater Manchester Police said the suspect, wearing a vest that appeared to hold explosives, was shot dead at the scene by armed officers. The device was later confirmed to be non-viable.
Authorities say the swift response from synagogue security and police likely prevented further bloodshed. Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic and bravery, with worshippers in traditional attire being evacuated by police. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer returned early from a summit in Copenhagen to lead an emergency meeting and pledged increased protection for the Jewish community. The attack has reignited concerns about the sharp rise in antisemitic incidents in the UK since the Israel-Gaza conflict. Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar criticized the British government, accusing it of allowing antisemitism to fester. Police are still working to confirm the identity of the attacker and have arrested two other individuals in connection with the incident.

Award-winning British rapper Dave has officially announced his long-awaited third studio album, The Boy Who Played The Harp, set for release on Friday, October 24. The announcement, made on October 1, sent waves through the UK music scene and ended months of speculation following a cryptic social media wipe earlier in the week. The album’s title is believed to reference the biblical David, known for playing the harp to calm King Saul—an apt symbol for an artist celebrated for his poetic introspection and musical depth.
Dave, born David Orobosa Omoregie, has built a reputation as one of Britain’s most thoughtful and socially conscious lyricists. His Mercury Prize-winning debut, Psychodrama (2019), and the chart-topping We’re All Alone In This Together (2021), earned acclaim for their raw vulnerability and sharp cultural critique. Though details of the new album remain tightly under wraps, fans expect a continuation of the 27-year-old’s signature style: emotionally rich, politically aware, and musically bold. With pre-orders already live, including exclusive vinyl and cassette editions, The Boy Who Played The Harp is poised to be one of the most anticipated and impactful releases of 2025.
5. Jonathan Kuminga Inks New Deal with Golden State Warriors

— Warriors PR (@WarriorsPR) October 1, 2025
Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors have reached an agreement on a two-year, $48.5 million contract, according to CBS Sports. The 22-year-old forward opted for the new deal over a $7.9 million qualifying offer, solidifying his place in the Warriors’ plans despite reported tensions and trade interest from other teams. Both the Sacramento Kings and Phoenix Suns reportedly pursued sign-and-trade deals for Kuminga. The Kings offered Malik Monk and a first-round pick; however, Golden State ultimately declined these offers.
Kuminga’s future with the team had been under scrutiny, particularly due to his complicated relationship with head coach Steve Kerr. While Kerr has publicly acknowledged Kuminga’s talent, he has also questioned the forward’s fit within the Warriors’ ball-movement-heavy system. The tension reportedly grew last season following the acquisition of Jimmy Butler, which led to Kuminga receiving multiple DNPs (Did Not Play) during key stretches. Still, Kuminga delivered the best season of his career in 2023–24, averaging 16.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.2 assists over 74 games. The Warriors’ active offseason also includes the signings of veterans Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, and Gary Payton II, as the team aims to retool around its core and make another playoff push.
