The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has imposed a six-month flight ban on legendary Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, following an alleged breach of aviation security protocols at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport. Confirming the development during a press briefing on Thursday, August 7, NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu said the agency would blacklist the artist from flying within Nigeria for the next six months. He emphasized that aviation safety rules are binding on all passengers, regardless of status or public profile.
The incident reportedly occurred during boarding for a ValueJet flight to Lagos on August 5, when K1 attempted to carry a flask containing liquid, later said to be alcohol, beyond the 100ml limit, leading to a confrontation with airport security. Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, in a post on X, confirmed that video evidence showed serious misconduct and described the situation as bordering on a “hostage” scenario after the artist allegedly blocked the aircraft from taxiing. Meanwhile, K1’s camp denied any wrongdoing, stating the flask only contained water and that the artist remained calm throughout.
