Former Vice President Kamala Harris revealed on Thursday that she will release a memoir titled 107 Days, offering a candid, behind-the-scenes account of her short-lived 2024 presidential campaign. In a video posted to X, Harris described the campaign as “intense, high stakes, and deeply personal.” She said the book stemmed from months of reflection and conversations with her inner circle following her exit from public office. The memoir focuses on the turbulent period after President Joe Biden exited the race, thrusting the Democratic Party into political uncertainty just months before the election.
Harris did not comment on her political future in the announcement. However, she affirmed her continued commitment to public service, saying, “I will never stop fighting to make our country reflect the very best of its ideals.” The memoir is set to be published in September by Simon & Schuster, with Harris also narrating the audiobook. Her announcement comes at a critical time for Democrats, who are out of power across the White House and Congress and facing bleak public approval ratings. Following the announcement, Harris appeared on The Late Show on Thursday night for her first interview since the 2024 election. This marked the start of what could be a high-profile return to the national spotlight.

President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he plans to bring back the Presidential Fitness Test for American schoolchildren. He is reviving a program first introduced in 1966 to promote physical activity among the nation’s youth. In a White House ceremony, Trump is expected to sign an order reestablishing the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, now under the leadership of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. He is also restoring the once-rigorous fitness test, which includes classic physical challenges like pushups, pullups, and running drills. The effort, Trump’s team says, aims to “create a culture of strength and excellence for years to come.”
The move marks a return to performance-based assessments after the Obama-era “Youth Fitness Program” shifted the focus from competition to personal health goals. Trump, a lifelong sports enthusiast, has made athletics a key theme in his post-presidency spotlight, attending events like the Super Bowl and UFC matches, and tying the announcement to America’s role in hosting upcoming global sporting events, including the 2025 Ryder Cup and the 2028 Summer Olympics. Several controversial sports figures are expected to join him at the event, including pro golfer Bryson DeChambeau, NFL kicker Harrison Butker, and former Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor, a registered sex offender.

Justin Timberlake has been diagnosed with Lyme disease, the pop icon announced Thursday in a heartfelt Instagram post following the conclusion of his Forget Tomorrow tour in Turkey. The former NSYNC star described the illness as “relentlessly debilitating, both mentally and physically,” and admitted he nearly canceled the tour after his diagnosis. However, he pushed forward, saying, “The joy that performing brings me far outweighs the fleeting stress my body was feeling.”
Lyme disease, which is spread by black-legged ticks, can cause flu-like symptoms, joint pain, and neurological issues. While most cases are treatable with antibiotics, the illness can have lasting effects. Timberlake’s tour was plagued by health-related disruptions, including show postponements due to bronchitis, laryngitis, and the flu. In his post, he expressed gratitude to his wife, Jessica Biel, and their sons, Silas and Phin, calling their love his “heart and home.” Reflecting on his future, Timberlake added, “I honestly don’t know what my future is onstage, but I’ll always cherish this run!”

Chelsea have reached an agreement with Ajax to sign highly rated Dutch defender Jorrel Hato in a deal worth over €40 million (£34.5m/$46m), according to The Athletic. The 19-year-old is set to undergo a medical as he becomes the latest addition to the Blues’ summer rebuild under their aggressive transfer strategy. Ajax had initially demanded a fee closer to €60m, but both clubs have now settled on a lower sum that includes a sell-on clause.
Hato, who can play both as a centre-back and at left-back, is expected to benefit from mentorship at Chelsea, with Marc Cucurella reportedly identified as a senior figure to guide his development. The youngster joins a growing list of summer recruits, including Estevao Willian, Dario Essugo, Mamadou Sarr, and Kendry Paez. Chelsea will aim to finalize the deal before their pre-season clash against Bayer Leverkusen on August 8, as preparations intensify ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
