Russia unleashed its largest aerial assault of the war against Ukraine overnight into Sunday, firing more than 800 drones and striking a government building in Kyiv for the first time. The capital endured 11 hours under air-raid sirens as residential blocks were hit, leaving at least two dead, including an infant, and dozens more injured, according to local officials. Across Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed four deaths and 44 injuries, condemning the strikes as “vile” and accusing Moscow of prolonging the war at a time when diplomatic efforts are being pursued.
The Ukrainian Air Force said Moscow launched 810 drones, four ballistic missiles, and nine cruise missiles, with most intercepted, but 54 drones and all nine missiles hitting targets nationwide. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko confirmed that the government building housing her office and other ministries was damaged, calling it a “massive attack” that also struck Kryvyi Rih, Dnipro, Kremenchuk, Odesa, and multiple neighborhoods in Kyiv. The scale of the assault, surpassing Russia’s record July offensive, drew international condemnation from leaders including France’s Emmanuel Macron and the European Commission’s Ursula von der Leyen, who vowed to reinforce Ukraine’s defenses and tighten sanctions on Moscow. Meanwhile, Poland scrambled aircraft to secure its airspace amid strikes near its border.

The Weeknd has officially made music history, becoming the first artist ever to have a song streamed five billion times on Spotify. Guinness World Records confirmed that his chart-topping hit “Blinding Lights” has set the unprecedented record, further cementing the Canadian superstar’s dominance in the streaming era. Released on November 29, 2019, as the second single from his “After Hours” album, the synth-heavy anthem reached the five-billion mark on August 31, 2025, also making it the most-streamed track of all time on Spotify.
This isn’t the first time “Blinding Lights” has broken records. The track previously dethroned Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” in January 2023 and still holds the record for the most weeks in both the Top 10 (57 weeks) and Top 5 (43 weeks) of the US Billboard Hot 100. The Weeknd, real name Abel Tesfaye, also became the first artist to surpass 100 million monthly Spotify listeners in 2023, a figure that now stands at over 110 million. Alongside these streaming feats, he has collected 22 JUNO Awards, tying legends like Céline Dion and Arcade Fire for most Album of the Year wins. Currently on his After Hours Til Dawn tour, The Weeknd continues to expand his legacy as one of the most record-breaking artists of his generation.

Barcelona forward Raphinha has accused Disneyland Paris of racism after claiming a mascot ignored his young son during a recent family visit. The Brazilian international shared videos on Instagram that appeared to show his two-year-old son, Gael, being passed over for a hug while several white children around him received attention from the costumed character. In a furious statement, the former Leeds United star branded the park’s employees “disgraceful” and questioned why his child had been excluded.
“He just wanted a hello and a hug,” Raphinha wrote. “Why did all the white children get hugs and not my son? I hate you, Disneyland.” The incident has quickly gone viral, sparking debate online about racism and inclusivity at theme parks. Disneyland Paris has not yet responded publicly to the allegations. Meanwhile, Raphinha remains on international duty with Brazil as they prepare to face Bolivia in the World Cup qualifiers.
