🎃 Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini

Rich, creamy, and perfectly spiced — this fall twist on the classic espresso martini is the ultimate Halloween indulgence. Smooth espresso meets the warm flavors of pumpkin spice and a splash of coffee liqueur, creating a cocktail that’s equal parts comforting and decadent. The velvety foam top dusted with cinnamon (or a tiny pinch of pumpkin pie spice) makes it feel special enough for any celebration — whether you’re hosting friends, handing out candy, or curling up with a spooky movie. It’s fall in a glass, with just the right amount of kick.

🍸 Beth’s Tip: Chill your glasses ahead of time for that signature frothy top — and don’t skip the garnish; it makes every sip feel special.
Frequently Asked Questions
Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini
Q1: Can I make the Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini without espresso?
Yes! If you don’t have espresso, you can use strong brewed coffee or cold brew concentrate. Just make sure it’s chilled — you want that smooth, bold coffee flavor without diluting the drink.
Q2: How do I make the foam on top?
That signature frothy top comes from shaking the drink well with ice. The key is a hard shake — about 20–30 seconds. The espresso and liqueur emulsify, creating that velvety layer that makes this cocktail feel so luxurious.
Q3: How can I make it ahead for guests?
You can batch the cocktail base (espresso, vodka, coffee liqueur, pumpkin puree, and a touch of cream) and store it in the fridge for up to a day. Shake individual servings with ice right before pouring — that’s how you get that signature frothy top.
- 4 oz vodka
- 2 oz espresso or strong coffee cooled
- 2 oz coffee liqueur like Kahlúa
- 1 oz pumpkin spice syrup store-bought or homemade
- Ice
- Ground cinnamon or three espresso beans for garnish
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.
Add vodka, espresso, coffee liqueur, and pumpkin spice syrup.
Shake vigorously until the outside of the shaker is frosty.
Strain into a chilled martini glass.
Garnish with cinnamon or espresso beans.
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup brown sugar (light or dark — dark gives deeper flavor)
- 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional for extra warmth)
- ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Combine: In a small saucepan, whisk together the water, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, and cinnamon.
- Simmer: Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely — about 5 minutes.
- Add Vanilla: Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Cool and Store: Let the syrup cool completely, then transfer to a glass jar or airtight bottle. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
🧀 Spooky Charcuterie Board with Halloween Treats
This playful yet elegant board is all about contrast — a mix of dark, moody tones and bright seasonal pops that make it both festive and delicious. You don’t need candy eyeballs or ghost-shaped cheese to make it Halloween-ready — just thoughtful color and texture.
On this board, I layered spicy salami, pepper jack cheese slices, and a rich blueberry goat cheese log for bold flavor and color. For balance, there’s a small dish of green and black olives, mixed nuts, and cranberry jam for a hint of sweetness. Clusters of red grapes add freshness and that deep jewel-tone richness, perfect for fall. A few breadsticks and crackers on the side bring crunch and structure. We have white cheddar cheese curds, too. Sage leaves add a little seasonal flair.

👻 Kelly’s Tip: Start with your cheeses first — they anchor the board. Layer in your charcuterie next, then fill the gaps with fruits, nuts, and spreads. Finish with pops of color and texture (like olives or herbs) to make everything feel intentional.
- Assorted cheeses sharp cheddar, brie, gouda
- Charcuterie meats salami, prosciutto, peppered turkey
- Blackberries grapes, and dried apricots
- Dark chocolate squares and candy corn for sweetness
- Pumpkin-shaped crackers or baguette slices
- Mini pumpkins and rosemary sprigs for garnish
Arrange cheeses and meats on a marble, wood, or slate board.
Add fruits and sweets in clusters for color balance.
Fill gaps with crackers and garnish with small pumpkins or rosemary.
Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to an hour before guests arrive.
Frequently Asked Questions
Spooky Charcuterie Board
Q1: How far in advance can I make the charcuterie board?
You can assemble most of the board a few hours ahead of time. Keep cheeses and meats covered in the fridge, then add fresh fruit and crackers right before serving so everything stays crisp and vibrant.
Q2: How do I keep the board balanced — not too sweet or too savory?
Aim for a mix of flavors and textures: salty meats, creamy cheeses, tart fruits, and a touch of something sweet like jam or chocolate. It keeps every bite interesting and satisfies all kinds of palates.
Q3: What should I serve alongside the board?
A light red wine, sparkling water, or your Pumpkin Spice Espresso Martini pairs beautifully. You could also add a small bowl of popcorn or roasted nuts nearby — easy, low-effort snacks that complement the board perfectly.
Halloween Inspiration!
We always start our Fridays with a little food and drink inspiration — and this week’s spooky snacks and fall cocktail were such a fun way to celebrate the season. But you know us, no Friday post is complete without a little outfit inspiration, too. After wrapping up our entertaining ideas, Kelly and I decided to lean into the Halloween spirit — and, wouldn’t you know it, we both ended up channeling iconic Disney characters this year! Two classic looks, two different takes, and plenty of festive fun to go around.

Beth’s Costume Inspiration: Cruella de Vil
Who says Halloween costumes have to be complicated—or expensive? This year, I had a little fun channeling my inner Cruella de Vil, and the best part is that I pulled most of the look straight from my closet. A simple black dress, black tights, and a pair of classic pumps form the base of the outfit. Add a faux-fur coat for Cruella’s signature drama, a pop of red gloves, and of course, that unforgettable two-toned wig—and you’re ready to steal the spotlight (without stealing any puppies!). It’s proof that with a few creative touches, you can transform timeless wardrobe staples into a chic, memorable costume.

✨ Beth’s Style Tip: Start with classic pieces you already own, then layer on accessories and attitude for a costume that’s equal parts stylish and fun.

Kelly’s Costume Inspiration: Mary Poppins
Practically perfect in every way! This year, I decided to go all in and splurged on a full Mary Poppins costume — and I have to say, it was worth every penny. The set includes the skirt, jacket, hat, and the parrot umbrella handle top. I decided to make my costume extra-authentic and hot-glued my own faux daisies and cherries to the hat. Also, I went to J.Crew Factory for the Ruffle-Trim Button Up. My lovely neighbor (and tailor) fashioned a simple red velvet bow from ribbon and a safety pin. And because I know I will use them for a costume in the future, I bought Victorian Ankle Boots from Amazon to complete the look.

✨ Kelly’s Style Tip: When you’re dressing as a beloved character, focus on the silhouette and signature details rather than perfection. Mary Poppins is all about polish and charm — a tailored coat, a tidy bow, and that cheerful hat bring her to life far more than an exact replica ever could. Confidence and a touch of whimsy are the real finishing touches. PS: I did have the skirt shortened!
