Happy 12th Birthday, Prince George!

A new photo of Prince George was released today to mark his 12th birthday.

Kensington Palace also released a video with all three Wales children. The video was shot by the Palace’s in-house social media team.

Here are some screenshots from the video.

The new photo of Prince George was taken by Josh Shinner in Norfolk this spring. Mr. Shinner has taken multiple photos of the family, including the image used for their 2023 holiday card. It appears that the new photo and video were shot on the same day as the photos released for Father’s Day this year (which can be seen further down in the post), as well as the photo used to mark Prince Louis’ seventh birthday.

Here is the Kensington Palace social media post with the new photo.

And the message from the King and Queen posted on social media with the new photo.

And now for a review of the young Prince’s past year. We saw Prince George in the video released by the Princess of Wales last September announcing the end of her chemotherapy treatment.

Another screengrab from the video shows the Princess with her eldest child.

This image from the video was also used for the family’s holiday card.

We next saw Prince George when the Wales family attended the Princess’s Together at Christmas carol concert in early December.

The annual event is taped at Westminster Abbey for broadcast on Christmas Eve.

Later in December, we saw Prince George when he joined Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, his parents, and others for the traditional Christmas Day walk to church at Sandringham.

Here is another view of the Prince with his sister, brother, and father.

Next, a trip to Paris in April with his father to watch Aston Villa take on Paris Saint-Germain in a Champions League soccer match.

Prince George and his siblings joined their parents for VE Day (Victory in Europe) 80th anniversary events in May. Below, the family as they arrived to watch the military procession marking the occasion.

After the parade, everyone walked to Buckingham Palace for a fly-past.

The next VE Day 80 event was a Buckingham Palace tea party, where Prince George joined his parents.

It was the first time Prince George attended a tea or garden party at Buckingham Palace.

More from The Daily Mail’s coverage.

Prince George was his parents’ pride and joy as he joined the Prince and Princess of Wales for a tea party at Buckingham Palace this afternoon. The young royal, 11, was polite and listened attentively as he made a surprise appearance, and spoke with veterans to commemorate VE Day on Monday.

The two princes with 99-year-old Douglas Austen Hyde, who is also known as “Dougie.”

Mr. Hyde joined the Merchant Navy in 1944, when he was just 18. We return to The Mail’s story.

Displaying an avid interest, George asked the former seaman ‘Did you ever get shot at?’ and ‘Did you ever see a U-boat?’

After their chat, Dougie said: ‘I was very impressed with the lad’s interest.

‘He was very polite. Whenever I used to do talks to young kids, that’s all you ever wanted, for them to listen and have a little understanding of those days.

The Prince also met veteran Charles Auborn, aged 99.

We revisit The Daily Mail piece one more time.

‘This is my son George I was telling you about,’ she said, ushering him to the table.

As Mr Auborn showed George pictures of the M4 Sherman tanks he operated during the war, the young prince asked him ‘Were they hard to operate? It must have been very tough with the weather.’

Here is one more photo from the tea.

We next saw Prince George with the rest of his family for Trooping the Colour in June.

Here you see him with Prince Louis.

On the Buckingham Palace balcony.  Our final Trooping photo shows the Prince of Wales with his sons.

We were treated to photos of all three Wales children for Father’s Day. You can see Prince George is in the same outfit worn for today’s photo. Below, a posed portrait of the children with their father.

A black and white image from the photo shoot showed the Wales children with their father on a bed of daffodils.

Just a few weeks later, we saw Prince George again, as he joined his sister and parents at Wimbledon.

The family was there to watch the Men’s Final Championship.

And the family as they headed home.

It was a treat seeing Prince George as much as we did this year.

The family is on holiday and will be celebrating Prince George’s birthday privately. Here is a look at what’s ahead for Prince George via this Telegraph story.

He will be enjoying the start of the school summer holidays, having broken up following his penultimate year at Lambrook School, just over two weeks ago.

The Prince has one more year left at the Berkshire prep school, which he attends alongside his siblings, Princess Charlotte, 10 and Prince Louis, seven, before he will transfer to senior school.

There has been huge speculation around the family’s next school choice, with Eton, the Prince’s alma mater, or Marlborough, the Princess’s former school, the likely front runners for the second in line to the throne.

Here is the new photo alongside last year’s birthday photo. In this year’s image, the Prince is dressed more casually as he leans on a fence.

In the photo, the Prince appears to be wearing a fleece vest by Schōffel, a German company specializing in high-performance technical clothing. The Little Oakham Fleece Gilet ($79.95) has a front zipper, stand collar, zippered front pockets, and Alcantara trim (a vegan alternative to suede). There is an adult version of the vest available here ($280).

Here is a look at how the Prince has grown over the years.

Do you remember where you were twelve years ago today? This may jog your memory: a video of Prince George’s introduction to the world.

Happy Birthday, Prince George!
