Here’s a word of caution before I get into the best designer picks from BG’s sale: If you normally shop Kohl’s and TJ Maxx, even BG’s sale prices a tad shocking. What’s Bergdorf Goodman?
Bergdorf Goodman is a luxury department store with a storied history. In 1899, Bergdorf, a French immigrant, opened a tailor shop on New York’s Fifth Avenue. The shop was a quick hit. Two years later, founder Bergdorf partnered with Edwin Goodman to expand the business.
By 1914, the store had moved to a larger location and begun offering women’s ready-to-wear garments. BG’s customer was the rich New Yorker who demanded luxury and sophistication. In the decades that followed, the Bergdorf Goodman store would expand its high-end collection and swanky clientele.
