Zambia’s former President Edgar Lungu has died at the age of 68, his party, the Patriotic Front (PF), confirmed in a statement on Thursday. Lungu passed away at 06:00 local time (04:00 GMT) at a clinic in Pretoria, South Africa, where he had been receiving specialized treatment for an undisclosed illness. His daughter, Tasila Lungu, shared an emotional video announcing his death, saying he had been under medical supervision in recent weeks. “In this moment of grief, we invoke the spirit of ‘One Zambia, One Nation’—the timeless creed that guided President Lungu’s service to our country,” she said.
