DESIGN WEEK SOUTH AFRICA is a riotous celebration of the country’s unlimited design talent and evidence of the unshakeable motto:
‘Can do, must do, will do!’
In October South Africa breathed creativity – more so than usual.
Pivoting between the design universes of Johannesburg (9-12 October 2025) and Cape Town (23 – 26 October 2025), South Africa’s whopping tsunami of creatives, makers and shakers of all things beautiful, innovative and forward-thinking was once again catapulted squarely into the spotlight.
Textiles, fashion, jewellery, art & sculpture, ceramics, botany, farming & ecology, recycling & upcycling, building & architecture, urban design, graffiti, furniture design, film, pet product design, food & drink and lifestyle were just some of the categories where unlimited creativity flourished.
Every vacant and occupied space, from shopping centres, high streets, farmland, boutiques, department stores, cafes, museums, art galleries, hotels and marketplaces to sidewalks and designer studios belonged to the public for a week.
Creatives & their entourage – from designers, fashionistas, models, celebrities, artisans, architects, furniture-makers, retailers and wholesalers to the media and the general public – were entrenched in all this creative commotion.
Shows, presentations, exhibits, pop-ups, designer collaborations, workshops, tours, talks, panel discussions and demonstrations were some of the many ways of demonstrating just how relentlessly creative a spot South Africa truly is.
We had to make tough choices in giving you a tiny taster of all this wondrous creativity. We’ve singled out a few sensational Fashion, Textiles, Jewellery and Lifestyle brands we know you will want to meet.
See our list of STOCKISTS at the end of the article for details of how to get in touch.
