Environmental activist Greta Thunberg has accused Israeli authorities of subjecting her to harsh and degrading treatment while in custody following her arrest during a Gaza aid flotilla mission. According to correspondence seen in the media, Swedish embassy officials who visited Thunberg reported that she was being held in a cell infested with bedbugs and was provided insufficient food and water. The 22-year-old told officials she had developed rashes from the conditions and suffered dehydration. Another detainee claimed Israeli forces forced Thunberg to pose for photographs, while other activists alleged she was dragged, beaten, “forced to kiss the Israeli flag,” and paraded after her arrest.
Thunberg was among 437 activists, parliamentarians, and lawyers detained after Israeli forces intercepted the Global Sumud flotilla, a coalition of more than 40 vessels attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and breach Israel’s longstanding maritime blockade. Rights groups, including Adalah, said detainees have been denied food, sanitation, and legal access, calling it a “clear breach” of due process. Israel’s national security minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, referred to the flotilla members as “terrorists” during a visit to Ashdod port. At the same time, Israeli officials have dismissed the allegations as “complete lies,” insisting all detainees’ rights were respected. The Swedish foreign ministry confirmed it is in contact with Israeli authorities and has urged immediate improvements to the detainees’ conditions.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in federal prison, five years of supervised release, and fined $500,000 following his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, CBS News reports. The sentence, handed down on Friday by U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, comes after Combs spent over a year in a federal detention facility in Brooklyn. The 54-year-old music mogul had faced up to 10 years for each count, though a jury in July acquitted him of the more severe racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking charges, which could have carried a life sentence. Prosecutors had pushed for more than 11 years behind bars, arguing that Combs physically and mentally abused women and employees for years, while his defense sought no more than 14 months, the time he has already served.
During sentencing, the court heard from several victims and witnesses, including Combs’ former partner, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura Fine, who urged the judge to “consider the victims” and expressed fears for her safety if Combs were released. A former employee, identified as Mia, also spoke in court, alleging years of abuse. In contrast, Combs’ defense presented over 70 letters of support from family, friends, and business associates, including rapper Caresha “Yung Miami” Brownlee, who described him as “a good man.” In his own four-page letter to the judge, Combs expressed remorse and described his path to sobriety, while his lawyers characterized his past as a “sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll story.” Judge Subramanian, however, rejected pleas for leniency, citing the severity of the offenses and Combs’ lack of accountability before delivering the 50-month sentence.

Harry Kane has allayed fears of a serious injury after being forced off late in Bayern Munich’s 3–0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday. The England captain, who scored once again to extend his remarkable Bundesliga record, was substituted in the 85th minute after taking a knock to his ankle during a challenge from Kaua Santos. Though he briefly returned to the pitch, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany quickly replaced him with Nicolas Jackson as a precaution, prompting concern among England fans ahead of the international break.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Kane reassured supporters about his condition. “I’m okay. It was a contact to the bone. I had it a few weeks ago, and it was in the same spot today. A few days and it’ll be fine,” he said, confirming that he will report for England duty on Monday. The striker continued his blistering form with a goal in the first half, becoming the first player in Bundesliga history to score 11 goals in his first six league appearances of a season. His update comes as welcome news for Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel and England manager Gareth Southgate, with the Three Lions set to face Wales in a friendly on October 9 before meeting Latvia in a World Cup qualifier five days later.
